DMZ access and progression
DMZ is live as part of the worldwide MW4 release, confirmed in the official 23 October announcement, checked (UTC). Earlier pre-order Early Access is historical; check your current platform’s purchase and access terms.

DMZ progression can prepare weapons for launch
The October 19 progression guide says weapon levels, attachments and camos earned during DMZ Early Access will be available in Multiplayer at the October 23 launch. DMZ has a separate level 1–70 reward track; DMZ XP also advances the overall level 1–55 track, while Multiplayer XP does not increase the DMZ level.

October 21 DMZ patch notes: objectives, crashes and PC performance
Infinity Ward confirms DMZ Early Access is underway. The October 21 notes list fixes for Dog Tag Case errors, Toxic Intercept objective failure and PC performance while holding a Heartbeat Sensor with a weapon. The fixes dated October 20 include Breaking New Ground crashes and some soft locks after selling starting equipment or dismissing Operators before the first deployment. See the troubleshooting section below for the separately dated support status; these scoped fixes do not establish that every progression issue is resolved.
Official Infinity Ward launch patch notes, October 21 ↗DMZ access footage & the official Hajin map
DMZ gameplay appears in original launch-day streams. We checked StoneMountain64’s 20 Oct 2026 broadcast and observed an active Hajin deployment with the DMZ Orders interface. This confirms a playable session was shown; it does not establish availability for every account or platform. The official eligibility rules still apply.
Planning a DMZ route? Open the Official Hajin DMZ Tac Map and use its marker menu to filter points of interest, Fortresses, Ammo Armor Caches, UAV Towers and Clinics. This is the Hajin DMZ map; use our Stranded location schematic for campaign containers and bunkers.
The official map guide explains that the Threat indicator describes enemy AI danger and does not include human Operators. A low Threat reading therefore does not establish that an area is safe from other players.
Resources checked . The map does not display an original publication date; this is our review date. Gameplay is the cited creator’s footage, not a Quest Field Guide play-test.
DMZ loot: resources, ingredients & a full backpack
Check an item’s crafting role before choosing what to leave behind. In Westie’s 20 Oct 2026 Early Access broadcast, the loot interface shows Detonators tagged 3D Printer alongside a Backpack Full warning.
- Resources and ingredients work differently. The official guide says basic resources break down into Chemicals, Electronics, Metals and Synthetics. Ingredients such as Detonators remain intact. Items in ordinary Backpack slots are at risk if you fail to exfil; Secure Slots provide an exception.
- Clear space between deployments. After a successful exfil, move ingredients from your Backpack to your Stash so they remain available for crafting and FOB upgrades.
- Track what your next recipe needs. Use the 3D Printer’s tracking option; tracked ingredients get a pin icon when looting. This helps you choose what to keep when space is limited.
Checked . The item label and full-backpack message were observed in the creator’s footage; extraction, Stash and tracking rules were cross-checked against the official FOB and 3D Printer guide. These are DMZ systems, separate from Stranded’s campaign keypad puzzles.
First order stuck after selling equipment? Read the Gear Up patch and support history. The earlier friend-deployment workaround is no longer listed on the current support page.
Protect important loot with Secure Slots
The Medium Backpack adds Secure Slots as well as carrying space. Put a valuable item that fits, such as a Weapon Manual, into a Secure Slot rather than leaving it in an ordinary slot. The official FOB guide says items in these slots are protected if you fail to exfil. This protection applies to the slotted item, not your entire Backpack or equipped gear.
In Geeky Pastimes’s video at 6:15, the inventory shows the Medium Backpack and Secure Slots during looting; a Weapon Manual has a separate Secure action. We reviewed the interface, not a complete death-and-recovery test.
Check your Bank capacity before selling valuables
At the FOB, compare your Bank balance with its capacity and check the 3D Printer’s Upgrades menu. IGN’s guide at 13:44 shows the Bank Upgrade I screen, including its increased capacity and cash requirement. The official guide confirms Bank capacity upgrades; check the current in-game requirements before spending DMZ Cash.
Inventory guidance checked against the two creators’ 20 October videos and the official FOB guide, originally published 9 October. Footage shows Early Access interfaces; exact build numbers were not established. These are source-reviewed observations, not our own play-test or a newly announced patch.
DMZ troubleshooting: Operator Prestige and missing launch buttons
Why can’t I Prestige my Operator in MW4 DMZ?
Activision is investigating cases where an active DMZ Operator cannot Prestige despite meeting the requirements. Its October 21 support update suggests trying Rare weapons with three attachment slots that have never had four or more attachments. Removing an attachment from a previously four-slot weapon is not the stated workaround. This is an interim option reported to help some players, not a permanent fix or a reason to dismiss your Operator.

Why is the MW4 Campaign or DMZ launch button missing on Xbox on PC?
For a missing MW4 launch button in COD Home on Xbox on PC, Activision’s October 23 support update recommends installing any Modern Warfare 4 Content Packs missing from your setup. Its current advice is not limited to Content Pack 1. Also check Microsoft Store device management for the ten-device limit. We checked this guidance on October 24; the launch issue remains under investigation. These are troubleshooting checks, not a confirmed fix for every affected player.

Review your device list at Microsoft Store device management. Check the affected account before changing installations.
Why is my first DMZ Order Gear Up stuck?
Infinity Ward’s October 21 patch notes report an October 20 fix for soft locks after selling starting equipment or dismissing Operators before the first deployment. Activision previously suggested joining a friend and deploying into Hajin for Gear Up, but that entry is absent from the October 21 support update checked October 22. Its removal does not establish that every Gear Up case is fixed. Update your game; if you remain blocked, use the bug-report link on the official support page. The friend-deployment suggestion is historical guidance, not a currently listed or guaranteed workaround.
